When oppression presses in, you do not need a theory. You need words you can speak right now. Maybe you feel constant fear, tormenting thoughts, or a heaviness that does not lift. Maybe someone you love is under attack. A prayer for deliverance from demonic oppression gives you a place to start, anchored in Scripture instead of guesswork.

Below you will find seven ready-to-pray prayers, each tied to a Bible verse. You can use them as a self deliverance prayer or speak them over a family member by changing the pronouns. Read each one aloud, slowly, and mean it. Jesus said in Luke 10:19 that He has given His followers authority over the power of the enemy, and these prayers put that authority into practice.

At Global Vision Ministries, we walk people through deliverance every week, so these prayers come from real ministry, not theory. Each one targets a different need, from fear and torment to generational patterns and spiritual protection. Pray them in order or pick the one that fits your battle today.

1. Prayer to break free from spiritual oppression

This is the foundation prayer. If you are unsure where to begin, start here, because it names the oppression and renounces it before you deal with anything else. Think of it as the first step in any prayer for deliverance from demonic oppression.

Scripture to stand on

Begin with the Word, not your feelings. Colossians 1:13 says God "has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son." Your freedom was bought at the cross, so you are not begging God for something He is unwilling to give. You are enforcing a victory that is already won.

Oppression has no right to stay where Christ has already declared freedom.

Read these verses aloud before you pray, one at a time, so your faith rises with each one:

  • Luke 4:18: He sent Me "to set at liberty those who are oppressed."

  • Psalm 34:17: "The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles."

  • James 4:7: "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."

The prayer

Pray this aloud and take your time. Pause wherever you feel resistance, and keep going.

"Father, in the name of Jesus, I come to You with an honest heart. I admit that I have felt heavy, afraid, and bound. I renounce every spirit of oppression, fear, and torment. Lord Jesus, You came to set the captives free, and I receive that freedom now. I submit myself to God, and I resist the devil. Every spirit that is not from You, I command you to leave me in the name of Jesus Christ. I break your hold over my mind, my body, and my home. Holy Spirit, fill every place that has been emptied. Thank You, Father, that I am free. Amen."

When to pray it

Use this prayer when oppression feels constant and you cannot trace it to one clear cause. It also fits the moment you finally decide you are done living under it. Common signs of demonic oppression include:

  • Fear or heaviness that returns for no obvious reason

  • Tormenting thoughts that peak at night

  • Sudden resistance whenever you try to pray or open your Bible

Pray it once a day for seven days, preferably in the morning, and then stay alert for what shifts.

2. Warfare prayer to bind and rebuke the enemy

Every prayer for deliverance from demonic oppression needs a moment of direct confrontation. This prayer takes the offensive, so use it when you need to speak with authority.

Scripture to stand on

Jesus said you cannot plunder a strong man's house unless you first bind him (Matthew 12:29). Your weapons are spiritual, and they carry divine power to tear down what the enemy built.

  • Matthew 18:18: "Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven."

  • 2 Corinthians 10:4: "The weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds."

  • Ephesians 6:12: "We do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities."

You do not negotiate with the enemy. You bind him in Jesus' name.

The prayer

Speak this with steady authority. You are not shouting to be heard. You are declaring what Jesus already won.

"In the name of Jesus Christ, I take authority over every demonic spirit assigned against me. I bind you, spirit of fear, confusion, and torment, and I rebuke you. You have no legal right here. I put on the full armor of God and take up the sword of the Spirit, which is Your Word. Every weapon formed against me is broken. I loose the peace of Christ over my life and my home. Go now, in Jesus' name. Amen."

When to pray it

Reach for this prayer when an attack feels active, not just lingering, as you pray against spiritual attacks. Typical moments include:

  • A sudden wave of dread or panic

  • Nightmares or disturbed sleep

  • Conflict that erupts for no clear reason

Repeat it until you sense peace, then thank God out loud.

3. Prayer to close doors and cancel legal ground

Sometimes oppression keeps returning because a door was left open. Unforgiveness, occult involvement, or ongoing sin can give the enemy legal ground. This prayer for deliverance from demonic oppression shuts those entry points.

Scripture to stand on

Ephesians 4:27 warns, "Give no opportunity to the devil." Jesus said of Satan, "He has no claim on me" (John 14:30). After repentance, you can say the same, because God cancels what stood against you.

  • Colossians 2:14: He canceled "the record of debt that stood against us," nailing it to the cross.

  • 1 John 1:9: "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

Repentance closes the door the enemy has been using.

The prayer

Before you pray, name any sin, habit, or wound the Holy Spirit brings to mind. Then speak this aloud:

"Father, I repent of every sin that opened a door to the enemy. I forgive everyone who hurt me, and I release them to You. I renounce all occult involvement, ungodly agreements, and every word I spoke against myself. Jesus, Your blood cancels every legal claim against me. I close every door in Your name, and the enemy has no ground left. Amen."

When to pray it

Use this prayer when oppression returns after you have already prayed, or when you know of past occult exposure, bitterness, or hidden sin. Pray it slowly and honestly, pausing to name specifics. Come back to it whenever something old resurfaces.

4. Prayer for protection over your mind and thoughts

Your mind is where the enemy often starts his attack. Tormenting thoughts and accusation can sound like your own voice, but you can take them captive. This prayer for deliverance from demonic oppression guards your thinking, like other prayers for deliverance of the mind.

Scripture to stand on

Paul says to "take every thought captive to obey Christ" (2 Corinthians 10:5). You do not have to accept every thought that arrives, because God has given you a sound mind.

  • 2 Timothy 1:7: "God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control."

  • Isaiah 26:3: "You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you."

A thought is not true just because it is loud.

The prayer

Speak this slowly, one line at a time, and replace each lie with truth as you go.

"Father, in Jesus' name, I take authority over my mind. I cast down every tormenting thought, lie, and accusation. I renounce fear, confusion, and anxiety. Lord, I receive Your power, love, and a sound mind. I put on the helmet of salvation, and I fix my thoughts on whatever is true and pure. Holy Spirit, guard my heart and mind with Your peace. Amen."

When to pray it

Pray it when thoughts spiral at night, or when accusation hits just as you try to worship. It also works as a daily guard:

  • Each morning, before you pick up your phone

  • Whenever a thought feels like torment instead of conviction

5. Prayer to break generational patterns and curses

Some battles feel inherited. Addiction, divorce, poverty, or sickness repeats through a family line, and you wonder how to break generational curses. This prayer for deliverance from demonic oppression cuts the pattern at its root.

Scripture to stand on

Galatians 3:13 says, "Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us." The cross broke the curse, so your family line can start fresh with you.

What Christ redeemed, your bloodline cannot reclaim.

  • Ezekiel 18:20: "The son shall not suffer for the iniquity of the father."

  • 2 Corinthians 5:17: "If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation."

The prayer

Name the specific pattern before you begin, such as addiction, divorce, or poverty, and insert it where the brackets are.

"Father, in Jesus' name, I thank You that Christ became a curse for me. I repent for the sins of my ancestors and every ungodly agreement made on behalf of my family. I break every generational curse of [name the pattern] and cancel its assignment against me and my children. I declare that I am a new creation in Christ, and old patterns have no claim on me. Holy Spirit, establish a new legacy of blessing in my family. Amen."

When to pray it

Use this prayer when the same trouble repeats across parents, siblings, and children. Pray it after you have closed doors in prayer number three, so nothing is left to hold the pattern in place. Good moments include:

  • When you notice yourself repeating a parent's worst habit

  • When a family member dies or a major milestone stirs old wounds

  • Before you marry or have a child

6. Prayer for a loved one under demonic attack

Watching someone you love suffer is its own kind of torment. You cannot force their freedom, but you can stand in the gap for them. This prayer for deliverance from demonic oppression works for a spouse, a child, or a friend who is under spiritual attack.

Scripture to stand on

Jesus freed a young girl because her mother pleaded on her behalf (Mark 7:29-30). Intercession is biblical, and your faith opens the way for God to move.

  • Matthew 18:19: "If two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father."

  • 2 Timothy 2:26: that they may "escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will."

  • Mark 9:24: "I believe; help my unbelief!"

Your prayer cannot replace their choice, but it can loosen what blinds them.

The prayer

Insert their name and pray with compassion, not frustration. You are fighting for them, not against them.

"Father, in Jesus' name, I lift up [name] to You. I stand in the gap for [name] and bind every spirit of oppression, deception, and torment assigned against them. Open their eyes to Your truth and loose them from every snare. I plead the blood of Jesus over their mind, body, and home. Send Your Holy Spirit to draw them close. Thank You that You love them more than I do. Amen."

When to pray it

Pray it daily when your loved one cannot or will not pray for themselves. Keep going even when nothing seems to change, because you are working on the spiritual side of the problem. Good moments include:

  • During a crisis or a late-night episode

  • When you feel helpless and have no words

  • After a conversation that ended in conflict

7. Prayer to seal your deliverance and walk in freedom

Receiving freedom is one step. Keeping it is another. This final prayer for deliverance from demonic oppression seals what God has done and fills the space the enemy left behind.

Scripture to stand on

Jesus warned that a spirit driven out can return to an empty house (Luke 11:24-26). So freedom needs a filling, not just a clearing. Your seal is the Holy Spirit and the Word, and these verses anchor it:

  • John 8:36: "If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed."

  • Galatians 5:1: "Stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery."

  • Revelation 12:11: "They have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony."

Freedom received must be filled, or it will be tested.

The prayer

Stand if you can, and speak with thanks instead of pleading. You are sealing a finished work, not asking for a new one.

"Father, in Jesus' name, I thank You that I am free. I seal my deliverance with the blood of Jesus and the word of my testimony. I refuse to return to any yoke of bondage. Holy Spirit, fill my mind, my body, and my home with Your presence. I walk in the authority Christ gave me, and I will not give ground to the enemy again. Teach me to stand firm every day. To You be the glory. Amen."

When to pray it

Pray this one last, after the others, or whenever the old fear knocks again. Treat it as a regular reset rather than a one-time event. Good moments include:

  • At the end of your seven-day cycle

  • When old symptoms test the door

  • Each Sunday, as a weekly declaration

Staying free after you pray

Deliverance is not a single moment. It is a way of living. Every prayer in this list, from breaking oppression to sealing your freedom, rests on one truth: Jesus already won the victory, and you are enforcing it. Keep praying the prayers that fit your battle, stay in the Word daily, and fill your life with worship and godly community so nothing sits empty for the enemy to use.

Some battles run deeper than a prayer list can reach. A prayer for deliverance from demonic oppression is powerful, but you do not have to fight alone when a pattern keeps returning or you feel stuck. Personal ministry can take you further, and one-on-one deliverance and guided prayer help you sustain what you receive.
